The simple SIR/API and the older, more fundamental HOST routines, enable the SIR/DBMS user to develop their own databased applications using calls to either C or FORTRAN routines.

The SIR/APIs are two simple sets of five functions (one for SIRDBMS and one for SIRSQL). These APIs can be used to develop your own front-ends for SIR database management engines.

HOST is a set of around 130 FORTRAN routines.
